The Tucker County Senior Citizens held their monthly Outpost at the Parsons Center on October 2, 2018. Evelyn Moore welcomed everyone. Everyone recited the Lord’s Prayer, gave the Pledge of Allegiance, and then sang “God Bless America.”
Those having a October birthday were recognized. There only 1 present. That was Nellie Workman. The group then sang “Happy Birthday” to her
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Mayor Dorothy Judy and Commissioner Lowell Moore were present to make a proclamation declaring October 2nd and the month of October as Breast Cancer awareness time in Tucker County. The Tucker County CEOS and Wendy Wolford from the West Virginia Extension Office then presented a program about breast cancer and Arlene Ramsey, a breast cancer survivor, hung the wreath.
Linda then made a few announcements before introducing our guest for the day. Mrs. Pam Ruediger played several selections on a lap harp. She played “In the Garden”, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus“, “Amazing Grace”, “Danny Boy”, “Holy, Holy, Holy”, “America the Beautiful”, “West Virginia Hills”, and several including a tune she wrote to accompany the Robert Burns poem “John Anderson My Joe.”
Door Prizes were awarded to Eldred Bright, Kenny Knotts, and Linda Lower.
Kenny Knotts asked a blessing on those affected by breast cancer and for our meal. A delicious meal was shared by all.
