Denver Arnold Whitehair Sr.

Denver Arnold Whitehair Sr., 78, of Eglon, West Virginia passed away October 10, 2018 at ONRC in Oakland, Maryland. He was born September 25, 1940 in Horse Shoe Run, West Virginia. A son of the late Arnold R. and Hilda A. Summerfield Whitehair.


He was preceded in death by his wife of 55years in 2016, Nina Mae Pennington Whitehair. Also preceding him in death was one son, Denver Arnold Whitehair Jr. He is survived by three daughters, Jennifer M. (Thomas) Fint, Aurora, West Virginia, Margaret (Perry) Bolyard, Eglon, West Virginia, and Renita (Randy) Harman, Accident, Maryland, five grandchildren, Clarice Brown, Hannah Fint, Julie Hartman, Elizabeth Paugh, and George Harman, and six great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Brown, Joseph Brown, Ryleigh Hartman, Clayton Paugh, Quinton Paugh, and Kaleigh Hartman.

Mr. Whitehair worked as a coal miner for over 25 years and retired in 1992. He was a member of the United Mine Workers Local #1444. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a wonderful patriarch to all of his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home, Sunday, October 14, from 2-6 p.m. Funeral services were held, 11 a.m., Monday, October 15 at Hinkle Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jim Hinkle officiating. Interment followed in the Texas Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Condolences can be made to the family at www.hinklefuneralhome.com
