Christina Darlene Helmick Long

Christina Darlene Helmick Long, 53, of Parsons, passed from this life Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Davis Medical Center in Elkins.


Christina was born Saturday, April 10, 1965, in Elkins, a daughter of Charles Ray Helmick and the late Carolyn Delores Lantz Helmick. On February 18, 1992, she was married to Franklin Willard Long, Jr., who survives.

Also left to cherish Christina’s memory is one daughter, Jessica Long and companion Joe Bishop, Jr., of Parsons two sisters, Angela Anello and Tina Coello and husband, Santos Nahum, all of Elkins, six nieces and nephews, Jennifer Young and companion, William Johns, and Toby Helmick and wife, Jessica all of Elkins, Tiffany Helmick and companion, Jerry Lee McCune of Huttonsville, Bucky Leary and Sadie Leary and Eric Pennington, all of Parsons, both of Elkins, six great nieces and nephews, Aaliyah, BentLee, Hannah, Masen, Bryer, and Jayleeigh, nine aunts and uncles, Betty Rock, Robert Lantz, Ronald Lee Lantz, Eugene Lantz, Marlene Young, Romana Zickefoose, Ann Lantz, Regina Lantz and Ilene Malcolm, Christina’s father and mother-in-law, Franklin W. Long, Sr. and Ruth Long of Parsons, sister-in-law, Kathy Coberly of Parsons, and her two dogs, Credance and Hansel.

Preceding Christina in death besides her mother were five uncles, Bradford Lantz, Charles Leo Lantz, Bob Helmick, Jerry Helmick, and Herbie Helmick, and three aunts, Margie Kelley, Mildred Edmond, and Lucille Everson, her paternal grandparents, Ray and Bessie Helmick, and her maternal grandparents, George D. and Nellie Marie Davis Lantz.

Christina attended the schools of Tucker County. She enjyoyed fishing and playing bingo. She loved her animals including the racoons and fawns that would show up in her yard. She loved her family and will be sadly missed.

Visitation will be held at Hostetler Funeral Home in Parsons on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, from 12 noon until 1p.m., the funeral hour. Rev. Pat Cassidy will officiate and Interment will follow at Fansler Cemetery at Hendricks. The Hostetler Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Christina Darlene Helmick Long.
