It is with great sadness that the family of Darlene C. Sedmock., 78, announces her passing on Monday, November 5, 2018. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends at Cortland Acres. She was born on December 9, 1939 in Kempton, MD a daughter of Joseph Skotniski and Margret Thomas.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Pamela K. (Matthew) Caruthers of Chantilly, Virginia and Stanley J. “Champ” Sedmock, Jr., at Cortland Acres in Thomas, West Virginia, as well as, extended family members.
Darlene C. Sedmock was a graduate of Mountaineer High School. Skip was extremely active with the football and basketball programs. For the majority of Darlene’s career, she worked at the Miner’s and Merchants Bank located in Thomas, West Virginia. She held various other positions, including a telecommunications analyst and sales clerk.
She was an active member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and of their choir. She adored her husband, Stanley J. Sedmock, Sr., daughter Pamela, and son Champ. She was an avid gardener, and loved spending time with her daughter in Chantilly, decorating and baking. She enjoyed ice skating, roller skating, and walking daily. She was passionate in assisting the St. Thomas Women’s association in their raffles. She was known to be able to “sell ice to a frozen Eskimo”.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, 11 a.m., Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church of Thomas, West Virginia with Father Timothy Grassi as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, P.O. Box 300 Thomas West Virginia 26292.
