ELKINS, W.Va., December 7, 2018 – Monongahela National Forest has issued a permanent order prohibiting camping and being on national forest land after sundown or before sunrise in the Little Black Fork Day Use Area.
Little Black Fork Day Use Area is located along County Route 6 north of Stuart Recreation Area. It includes national forest land between the Shavers Fork River and County Route 6 and within 300 feet of the opposite side of County Route 6 from the junction of County Route 6 and Forest Road 798 north to the Randolph/Tucker County line.
“Numerous citizens have expressed concerns over improper and illegal behavior in the Little Black Fork area, especially after dark,” said Troy Waskey, Cheat-Potomac District Ranger. “This measure is designed to help law enforcement deter these activities without impeding daytime use of the national forest for hunting, fishing or hiking.”
