Jerry Otis Nestor

Jerry Otis Nestor, 78, a resident of the Leadmine Community, passed from this life Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at Garrett Regional Medical Center. He had been in declining health.


Jerry was born Thursday, December 19, 1940, in Wheeling, a son of the late Elwood Guy Evans and Virginia Nestor Evans Jennings. He was married to Eleanor May who preceded him in death.

Left to cherish Jerry’s memory is one son, Duane T. Hoke and his family, of Michigan, two step-children, Jack and Jill May of Illinois, one brother, Donnie Lee Evans and wife, Barbara, one sister, Brenda Joyce Hebb and husband, John, all of Leadmine, two step-brothers Terry Jennings and wife, Carrie, of Maryland and Jerry Jennings and wife, Sonia of Ohio, one special niece, Marina Wolford and husband, Mike, of Leadmine, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Besides his wife and parents, Jerry was preceded in death by one step-brother, Mike Jennings.

Jerry graduated Parsons High School with the Class of 1958. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1964. He was a self-employed painter and had worked for Jewel. He enjoyed bird hunting and skeet shooting. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Mountaintop Hunting Club.

Visitation was held at Hostetler Funeral Home on Friday, February 1, 2019 from 12 until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. Members of the Tucker County Veterans Association and the WV Honor Guard presented the American Flag. Jerry’s request for cremation was honored.
