This is a photo of Dr. Feaster Wolford (1893-1988). He was the son of Claudius and Elizabeth Cooper Wolford of the Flanagan Hill Area. He had been a teacher, college professor and farmer. He attended Shepherd Normal in the summers to earn his high school diploma. He taught at Wolford School, where he had attended as a student, for four years and at Flanagan Hill one year. Berea College and transferred to the University of Kentucky where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree. He went on the earn a Master’s Degree from West Virginia University in 1929 and earned his Doctorate Degree from Cornell at the age of 42. He was enlisted in the US Navy in 1917 and his basic training was at Norfolk, VA. He served on the battleship Kearsarge before being stationed as a company commander at Great Lakes Naval Training Station near Chicago. Ideas or comments contact Tim Turner (304) 478-3389.
