TUCKER COUNTY BASEBALL TEAM ENDS SEASON WITH SECTIONAL LOSS

PARSONS – The Mt. Lions hosted Paw Paw in First Round Sectional play on Monday May 6th. Tucker County came out with energy to get the home playoff win over the Pirates by the final score of 12-1.

Cameron Wamsley got the pitching victory for Tucker County against Harman on May 8th.

Cameron Wamlsey got the start on the mound for Tucker County and Wamsley picked up the win in the contest. The Mt. Lions was led at the plate by Corrick Ambrose as he collected 2 hits in 3 at bats. Ambrose also led Tucker County with 3 stolen bases on the evening as Tucker County got the win 12-1.

MOOREFIELD – Tucker County traveled to Moorefield on Tuesday May 7th for a Sectional contest against the top ranked Yellowjackets. The Mt. Lions fell behind early and they could not complete a comeback as they dropped the game by the final score of 10-0.

The offense for Moorefield got started early with a 1-0 lead after 1 inning. The pitching for the home standing Yellowjackets controlled the Mt. Lions as they held Tucker County to 0 hits, 0 runs, while striking out 9 Mt. Lion batters. Derek Delaney took the loss at pitcher for Tucker County as he allowed 5 hits and 9 runs in the contest. Liam Hood and Zach Colebank entered the game in pitching relief action.

PARSONS – The Mt. Lions hosted Harman for a Sectional Elimination game on Wednesday May 8th. Three Tucker County pitchers combined for a shutout over the Panthers by the final score of 19-0.

The Mt. Lions blew the game open on offense with 9 runs in the 2nd inning to take control of the game. Gariet Pennington, Cameron Wamsley, Shane Humphrey, Corrick Ambrose, Blake Anderson and Cole Rapp each had RBI’s in the big inning. Tucker County held Harman scoreless the rest of the game and the Mt. Lions added 9 more runs to run away with the game to get the victory 19-0. Cameron Wamsley got the win on the mound as Corrick Ambrose and Zach Colebank entered the game at the pitching position in relief action. Tucker County had 19 hits in the game as Wamsley, Easton Snyder, Rapp, Ambrose and Humphrey had multiple hits in the game to help Tucker County in the win and helped save elimination for the Mt. Lions. Wamsley led Tucker County at the plate as he went 3 of 4 batting on the evening.

BAKER – Tucker County traveled to East Hardy for another Sectional Elimination game on Thursday May 9th. The Mt. Lions got down early again and could not hold off the Cougars as they fell in the contest 19-3.

East Hardy scored 1 run in the 1st inning and added 2 runs in the 3rd inning. Tucker County rallied to cut the lead to 4-3, but the Cougars exploded for a big inning in the 4th to pull away for good. East Hardy plated 15 runs in the 4th inning to break the game open as they cruised from there in route to a 19-3 Sectional win. Zach Colebank got the start for Tucker County and Colebank also took the loss in the contest. Shane Humphrey and Blake Anderson also entered the game at the pitching position in relief action. Colebank led the Mt. Lions at the plate as he went 2 for 2 on the evening. East Hardy collected 13 hits in the game as they kept their season alive with the win. Tucker County’s season came to an end with the playoff loss. The Mt. Lions finished the season with an 8-14 record with the loss. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
