TRAVEL NEWS

We still have a couple of tickets for the Pittsburgh Pirates game on Thursday, July 25th. The price is $150 per person. This includes transportation, game ticket, and shuttle boat ticket to ride to the stadium from Station Square.

There is still room on the trip to the Cumberland, MD area on August 12th. The price for this 1-day trip is $150.

The trip to Atlantic City, NJ will be August 25th to 27th. The price is $350 per person based on double occupancy. At this time we have 7 or 8 seats available. Please call as soon as possible if interested. The first payment was due Friday, May 10th.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the amount of cancellations we have been receiving after the price of our trips have been announced and after consulting with several other Senior Centers about their policies, the committee has decided to implement the following policy effective with any trips announced after July 1, 2019:

  1. We will announce the trips in the Parsons Advocate and the Senior Center newsletter.
  2. When you call, you need to give the names and phone numbers of the people wanting to go on the trip.
  3. Your place on the trip will not be reserved until you have sent in a $75 deposit. This deposit will only be refunded if you find someone to take your place on the trip.
  4. This policy may change slightly if the trip involves a cruise or airline because of their policies.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Linda Bonner with the activities department at 304-478-2423. Thank you for your cooperation with these changes.

PARSONS FREE LUNCH FRIDAY

The Parsons Center will be having Free Lunch Friday on Friday, June 7th provided by Davis Medical Center. The speaker for the day will be Cindy Lanham from Laurel Place in Elkins. She will discuss the services they provide. She will speak at 11:00 a.m. with lunch following at 11:30 a.m.

MT TOP BIRTHDAYS AND GAME DAY

The Mt. Top Center will be honoring those having June birthdays on Tuesday, June 11th. This is also our game day so please join us at 10:30 a.m. as we have fun, fellowship, and great cake provided by WV Caring.

GET READY, GET SET, GO

The WV Senior Legal Aid is offering a 2 part workshop to help seniors make sure they are prepared for the end of life. The first workshop will discuss legal documents including medical and financial powers of attorney, living wills, wills, and Transfer on Death deeds. There will also be a time to meet privately with an attorney from WVSLA to discuss these and other civil legal questions or problems. You will be given the necessary forms to take home and complete. They will not offer wills or deeds, just information on them.

The second part will be approximately 2 weeks later when you return with your forms and meet with a notary to have forms notarized.

If interested, please call the Parsons Center at 304-478-2423 to get on a list. If enough people are interested, we will continue with the planning and set up the dates.
