Registered mammography technologists Becky Moore, Debbie Howell, and Dorothy Phillips are seen with the new, state-of-the-art digital 3D Senographe PristinaÔ mammography unit which was accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

ELKINS, WV – Davis Medical Center (DMC) is pleased to announce accreditation of their new state-of-the-art digital 3D Senographe PristinaÔ mammography unit.  Accreditation was received by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety, and is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards.

“We are very pleased to offer this new technology.  Patients frequently comment on the comfort and improved experience of the new unit,” said Becky Moore, R.T., DMC registered mammography technician.

Design features for patients include comfortable head and arm rests, and flexible paddles that tilt and adapt to women’s varying body shapes.  The comfortable design of the 3D unit is complimented by the diagnostic performance and accuracy in clarity for diagnosis.  It provides an exceptionally sharp and detailed image for breast cancer detection and diagnosis.

DMC’s mammography services are provided weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Weekend and extended hour appointments are also available for patient convenience.  Physician referrals are required for this screening.

“Evening appointments are especially convenient for women who work or who have busy schedules during the daytime,” added Moore. “Mammograms are too important to put off because of scheduling challenges.  We want to be as accessible as possible for all women.”

Each DMC clinician is a registered mammography technologist which means they have completed additional training and have advanced skills in breast imaging.  “Like the ACR Accreditation, this illustrates our commitment to providing the best care possible,” said Moore.  The mammography team includes radiologist Alex Brown, M.D., Joe Dibacco, R.T., Director of Radiology, and registered technologists Debbie Howell, Dorothy Phillips and Becky Moore.

Moore reminds women that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a good time to make an appointment for the lifesaving benefits of a mammogram. For more information about the 3D Senographe PristinaÔ system, or information about mammography services at Davis Medical Center, call 304.637.3176.

Mammograms are covered as a preventive screening by most insurance companies.  The Davis Health System Foundation funds a free mammogram program for qualified participants.  More information about this program can be found on the DHS Foundation website or by calling 304.630.3043.
