PARSONS – The undefeated Wildcats Football team hosted undefeated Romney on Wednesday September 25th. Tucker Valley scored early and often to cruise to a 50-6 victory.
Romney won the coin toss and received the opening kick to start the game. The Pioneers could not sustain the drive after a failed fourth down play and Tucker Valley took over at mid field. The Wildcats offense then went to work. Tucker Valley then capped off the 9 play 50 yard drive on a 1 yard touchdown run by Ashton Lycliter. The 2 point conversion was good to make the score 8-0 Tucker Valley with 3:26 left in the first quarter. The next possession by Romney resulted in a punt that would give the ball back to the home standing Wildcats with 2:13 left in the first quarter. The first quarter ended with the score 8-0 Tucker Valley. The Wildcats drive continued into the second quarter as the Tucker Valley offense could not be stopped. A touchdown pass by Tucker Valley’s Ethan Rosenau to Maddox Anderson with 5:12 left in the second quarter would end a 15 play drive to put Wildcats on the scoreboard again.
The 2 point conversion failed to push the lead for Tucker Valley to 14-0. The teams then exchange punts on their next possessions. Tucker Valley then took over the ball at the Romney 41. As time was running out in the second quarter the Wildcats made a big play on offense. Ashton Lycliter would catch a pass from Rosenau and Lycliter carried Romney tacklers into the endzone from 16 yards out as time expired in the first half. The PAT conversion was good by Tucker Valley to make the halftime score 22-0 Wildcats.
Tucker Valley received the ball to start the third quarter and their offense went right to work.
Lycliter would score again on a 9 yard touchdown run with 5:28 left in the third quarter to make the score 28-0 after a failed PAT. The visiting Pioneers then got their offense moving on their first drive of the third quarter. Romney converted on a fourth down play during the drive and capped off the 64 yard drive on a 2 yard touchdown run. The PAT conversion failed to bring the score to 28-6 with 2:16 left in the third quarter. Tucker Valley then scored on a 20 yard touchdown run by Lycliter with 22 seconds left in the third quarter. The 2 point conversion was good when a reverse goes to Garrett Wilfong who then threw a pass to quarterback Rosenau for the conversion to make the score 36-6 Wildcats. The next play by Romney was disaster as Lycliter stepped in front of the Pioneers pass for an interception and then he raced 65 yards for a touchdown to put Tucker Valley in the endzone again. The PAT failed to push the Tucker Valley lead to 42-6 with 8 seconds left in the third quarter. The fourth quarter would not fair any differently for Romeny as they would turn the ball over to the Wildcats on a fumble. The reserve players then took over for both teams. Tucker Valley would then get another score on a Ethan McCrum 26 yard touchdown run to make the score 50-6 after a successful PAT. The game would then end with a Tucker Valley win by the final score of 50-6.
Tucker Valley was led by Ashton Lycliter who collected 7 receptions for 109 yards receiving and 8 carries for 106 yards rushing. Ethan Rosenau added 11 of 17 passing for 161 yards and Maddox Anderson chipped in with 53 yards rushing on 12 carries for Tucker Valley in the win.
