PARSONS – The Mt. Lions Football team hosted #1 ranked Pendleton County for Homecoming on Friday October 4th. Tucker County could not get their offense moving and Pendleton County took home the victory by the final score of 41-14.
Tucker County won the toss and they deferred their option until the second half. Pendleton County received the kick and their offense went to work. The visiting Wildcats drive went 6 plays and it was capped off on a 10 yard touchdown run with 9:41 left in the first quarter.
The extra point kick was good to make the score 7-0 Pendleton County. Tucker County was forced to punt on their first offensive drive and Pendleton County took over at their own 47 yard line. The Wildcats offense went to work again. This time the visiting team scored on a 1 yard touchdown run to push the Pendleton County lead to 14-0 with 5:16 left in the first quarter. On the second Tucker County possession the Mt. Lions moved the ball before an interception gave Pendleton County the ball back at the Wildcats 44. Pendleton County would then drive the ball down to the Tucker County 2 yard line, but a Pendleton County fumble with 36 seconds left in the first quarter was recovered by Tucker County at the Mt. Lions 3 yard line. The first quarter ended with the score 14-0 Pendleton County. Tucker County then picked up a couple first downs before the drive stalled and Tucker County had to punt the ball back to Pendleton County. The Wildcats special teams then blocked a Mt. Lions punt with 9:41 left in the second. The Pendleton County offense would then capitalize on the blocked punt as they would score on a 2 yard touchdown run with 7:55 left in the second quarter. The PAT kick was good to make the score 21-0 Pendleton County. Tucker County’s Jeremy Liller stepped in front of a Pendleton County pass for the interception to stop a Wildcat drive with 5:10 left in the second quarter. Then the Wildcats defense then got involved in the scoring as Pendleton County intercepted a Tucker County pass and returned it 20 yards for a touchdown with 3:42 left in the first half. The PAT kick was good to push the Wildcats lead to 28-0. The first half ended with the score the same 28-0 Pendleton County.
Tucker County received the kick to start the third quarter, but a Mt. Lions fumble was recovered by Pendleton County on the Tucker County 20 yard line with 10:19 left in the third quarter. The Wildcats then scored on a 6 yard touchdown run. The PAT kick was no good to make the score 34-0 with 9:17 left in the third. Pendleton County would add another score before the reserves come into the game. This score came on a 9 yard touchdown run with 6:29 left in the third quarter to push the Wildcats lead to 41-0. The third quarter ended with the score the same 41-0 Pendleton County. Tucker County would get on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter with a 29 yard touchdown pass from William McCallister to Gus Mullennex. The 2 point conversion was no good to make the score 41-6 Pendleton County with 8:38 left in the fourth quarter. Tucker County would then add a touchdown late in the game on a 68 yard touchdown pass from McCallister to Trenton Wilfong with 2:00 left in the game. The 2 point conversion was good to make the final score of the game 41-14 Pendleton County.
William McCallister led Tucker County with 154 yards passing. 6 of 13 passing for 90 yards. Gus Mullennex had 88 yards receiving and Trenton Wilfong added 68 yards receiving for the Mt. Lions.
