Tucker County Girls’ Cross Country qualifies for State Meet

ELKINS – The Tucker County Girls’ and Boys’ Cross Country teams traveled to Elkins on Thursday afternoon October 24th to compete in the Region 2 Championship Meet. Tucker County’s Kate Falls led the Lady Mt. Lions with a 5th place finish and Erin Chambers took home 8th place for Tucker County. The team placed 4th overall and 2nd among Class “A” school to qualify the Lady Mt. Lions for the State Championship Meet next week at Cabell Midland. The Boys’ team was led by Holden Young with a 20th place finish. The Mt. Lions ended their season as a team with a 6th place finish overall and 3rd place among Class “A” schools.

The Lady Mt. Lions finished the race as follows: 5th-Kate Falls(23:38.16), 8th-Erin Chambers(24:10.69), 24th-Hannah Hardy(25:58.08), 29th-Kristen Hicks(26:35.18), 32nd-Karlee Smith(27:20.51), 37th-Alaira Hudson(28:01.30), 43rd-Riley Rohrbaugh(29:02.49). Team: 1st-Bridgeport, 2nd-Elkins, 3rd-Doddridge County, 4th-Tucker County, 5th-Notre Dame, 6th-Liberty and 7th Robert C Byrd.

The Tucker County Boys’ runners finished as follows: 20th-Holden Young(20:56.35), 38th-Will White(22:17.69), 41st-Ethan Pacella(22:43.95), 55th-Trent Eure(23:57.83), 63rd-Wesley Strawderman(24:58.99), 66th-Raine McCauley(25:44.62), 71st-Taylor Long(26:39.54). Team: 1st-Bridgeport, 2nd-Doddridge County, 3rd-Elkins, 4th-Lewis County, 5th-Clay-Battelle, 6th-Tucker County, 7th-Notre Dame, 8th-Roane County and 9th Gilmer County.

The Tucker County Girls’ team will compete at the State Championship Meet on Saturday November 2nd at Cabell Midland High School at 1pm. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
