LADY MT. LIONS GET WINS OVER SOUTH HARRISON AND PHILIP-BARBOUR

HAMBLETON – The Tucker County Girls’ Basketball team hosted South Harrison on Tuesday December 10th.  The Lady Mt. Lions got off to a slow start, but the home team pulled away in the second half to cruise to a 61-35 win.

Tucker County led early as they had the advantage after one quarter of play 17-9.  The Lady Hawks played well in the second quarter as the score was even in the period 9-9 to make the halftime score 26-18 Tucker County at the halftime intermission.

The third quarter belonged to the Lady Mt. Lions as they outscored South Harrison 17-9 in the third to extend the Tucker County lead to 43-27 after three quarters.  Tucker County would then pull away for good in the final quarter as they outpaced South Harrison 18-8 to end the game with the final score of 61-35.

Terra Kuhn led Tucker County in scoring with 20 points, 8 rebounds and London Hood added 13 points, 4 steals.  Gracie Rapp and Jessi Daniels chipped in with 8 points each for Tucker County in the victory.  The Lady Mt. Lions JV team got the win in the first contest 45-11.

PHILIPPI – The Lady Mt. Lions traveled to Philip-Barbour on Thursday December 12th for a road matchup with the Class “AA” Lady Colts.  Tucker County turned a 8 point halftime lead into a 18 point victory as they got the road win by the final score of 74-56.

The game went back and forth in the first quarter as both teams were scoring well as the Lady Mt. Lions led after one 22-18.  Tucker County then pulled away slightly in the second quarter as the outshot the Lady Colts 21-16 to make the halftime score 43-34 Tucker County.

The Lady Mt. Lions defense then stepped up in the third quarter as they held Philip-Barbour to 7 points in the third and Tucker County scored 14 points to pull away after three quarters 57-41.  In the fourth quarter the Tucker County defense continued as they built a 70-43 lead midway through the fourth quarter before the Lady Mt. Lions reserves came into the game.  The game ended with a Tucker County win by the final score of 74-56.

Jayden Kuhn led Tucker County in scoring with 25 points, 3 assists and sister Terra Kuhn added 19 points, 9 rebounds.  London Hood had 12 points, 4 steals, 3 assists and Kadie Coleback chipped in with 10 points, 11 rebounds, 8 blocks for the Lady Mt. Lions in the win.  The Tucker County JV fell in a close game 31-25.

The Lady Mt. Lions(3-0) will travel to Petersburg on Thursday December 19th and then they will host Parkersburg Catholic on Saturday December 21st at 12 noon.  For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
