Tucker County Girls’ win at Petersburg then fall To Park Catholic

PETERSBURG – The Lady Mt. Lions traveled to Petersburg on Thursday December 19th. Tucker County got an early lead and fought off a late surge from the Lady Vikings to get the road win by the final score of 60-56.
Tucker County came out firing on all cylinders in the first quarter as they led after one 13-6. The Lady Mt. Lions then built a 16 point lead in the second quarter, but Petersburg finished the quarter strong to make the score 30-20 at halftime.
The third quarter was won by the Lady Vikings 21-17 to make the score 47-41 Tucker County after three quarters of play. Petersburg continued to chip away at the Tucker County lead in the fourth quarter, but the Lady Mt. Lions held on late to get the road win by the final score of 60-56.
Terra Kuhn led Tucker County with 26 points and 7 rebounds. London Hood added 17 points, 3 steals for the Lady Mt. Lions and Jayden Kuhn chipped in with 13 points, 3 steals for Tucker County in the victory. The Tucker County JV fell in the first game 50-20.
HAMBLETON – The Tucker County Girls’ Basketball team hosted Parkersburg Catholic on Saturday December 21st for a varsity only contest. Parkersburg Catholic pulled away in the second quarter and took the victory by the final score of 57-34.
The first quarter was competitive as both teams battled and Parkersburg Catholic held a 18-12 lead after one quarter. The second quarter belonged to the visiting team as they outscored the Lady Mt. Lions 19-7 to push the Parkersburg Catholic lead to 37-19 as the half.
Tucker County fought back to start the third quarter, but Parkersburg Catholic finished the third strong to make the score 49-28 Parkersburg Catholic at the end of three. The fourth quarter was played fairly even and Parkersburg Catholic got the victory by the final score of 57-34.
Terra Kuhn led Tucker County with 13 points, 11 rebounds and Kadie Colebank added 10 points, 8 rebounds. London Hood had 5 points and Gracie Rapp pulled down 7 rebounds for Tucker County in the loss.
The Lady Mt. Lions(4-1) will return to action on Thursday January 2nd at home against East Hardy. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
