Mt. Lion Boys’ Get Win Over East Hardy At Home 56-54

HAMBLETON – The Tucker County Boys’ Basketball hosted East Hardy on Wednesday January 13th. Tucker County built a lead in the third quarter and they held off a Cougars comeback to get the victory by the final score of 56-54.

The first quarter went back and forth as neither team could pull away with Tucker County leading after one 14-13. The Mt. Lions controlled the second quarter as the outscored the visiting Cougars 21-16 to make the halftime score 35-29 Tucker County.

The third quarter was owned by Tucker County early as the Mt. Lions built a 47-31 lead midway through the third quarter. East Hardy fought back to make the score 47-42 Tucker County after the end of the third quarter. East Hardy continued to chip away at the Tucker County lead in the fourth to tie the score at 54-54 with 21 seconds left in the contest. Tucker County’s Wyatt Betler then sank a jump shot with 2.5 seconds left in the game to give the Mt. Lions the victory by the final score of 56-54.

Wyatt Betler led Tucker County with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Zach Long added 10 points for the Mt. Lions while Trey Key and Zach Colebank chipped in with 8 points each in the Tucker County victory.

The Tucker County JV team fell in a close game 71-69.

Tucker County (2-7) will return to action tonight Wednesday January 22nd at Preston. The Mt. Lions will then host Bishop-Walsh, MD for a varsity only contest after the Lady Mt. Lions varsity only contest on Friday January 24th. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
