TCHS Students of the Week
By Erin Cassidy

Each week teachers nominate students who have gone above and beyond academic and behavioral expectations. The students who have met these expectations this week are Alexis Evers, Caitlyn Eye, Erin Chambers, Ethan Carr, and Kevin Barb.
Alexis Evers, a junior, and Caitlyn Eye, also a junior, were nominated for being super kind and helpful in encouraging other students to try their best at the Canaan Valley Skating Rink during the TCHS Semester Reward Trip.
Freshman Erin Chambers was chosen for always being considerate, positive, and an all-around fabulous student.
Juniors Ethan Carr and Kevin Barb were selected for shoveling around the school during the last big snow.
These students are to be commended for exemplifying the principles of Mountain Lion CARE: courtesy, attitude, responsibility, and engagement.

Awards were given to the best actors for each one act, and for Tucker County’s theater troupe, Lindsey Hull and Samantha Chambers were recognized as the best of all the talented young men and women who performed.
The cast who participated in the Thespians Festival were Olivia Sigley, Corey Price, Tanner Gatto, Tessa Jolly, Samantha Chambers, Erin Nestor, Lindsey Hull, Allicen Handlen, Alisha Bennett, Cheyenne Roth. The stage/light and sound crew included Joseph Birchland and Erin Chambers. Also attending were student director Lindsey Hull and director Catherine Chambers.
Director Catherine Chambers commented on TCHS’s performance at the Thespians Festival, “Congratulations to Lindsey Hull and Samantha Chambers for winning medals for best actors. We may not have placed, but I am really proud for the performance they gave. I can’t wait to see what we do next year with this amazing crew!”
Lindsey Hull, the student director, added, “We took a risk by doing something different, and that was recognized. We’ll learn from our mistakes and bounce back better next year.”

TCHS All-Star Reward Trip

TCHS All-Star Trip
By: Erin Cassidy

TCHS’s first All-Star Trip was on Wednesday, January 22 . Students who had maintained good attendance with no more than two cumulative absences, had a minimum GPA of 2.5, and had no discipline referrals during the first semester were rewarded with an ice-skating trip to Canaan Valley.
Ninety-one students were eligible to attend. Principal Steve Cosner is very pleased with the number of students eligible for this trip and commends these students for their efforts.
Sophomore Tessa Jolly said, “The trip was an amazing experience, I would definitely try skating again if given the chance. I’m greatly thankful to the school for giving us this trip.” Junior Alexis Evers added, “I feel that the All-Star Trips will encourage more kids to come to school after they see how much fun the trip is.” Tina Carr, one of the teacher chaperones, echoed the students’ comments: “Students had a fantastic time. This was the first time some students had ever skated. I think the All-Star Reward Trip will promote student achievement and better attendance.”
The second All-Star Trip will be at the end of the third nine weeks. Students will go swimming at Canaan.Captions:
