On Thursday, Jan 16 at approximately 9:30 p.m. The West Virginia State Police and the Parsons Sheriff’s Department were called to the scene of an mining accident at Mettike Coal in Davis.
According to the press release when Trooper J.E. Kopec and Deputy C.A. Teter arrived on the scene, they learned that Daniel Keith Lambka of Kitzmiller, Md. had allegedly been crushed during a belt move. Fellow miners freed him and took him to the surface, where he was pronounced dead on the scene. No further information on the accident is available at this time.
