Guy H. “Pete” Michael Jr. passed away on February 1, 2020, in Morgantown, West Virginia. He was born in Norton, West Virginia on November 12, 1925. Preceding him in death were Guy H. Michael Sr., Mildred Coffman Michael, James Willis Michael, Patricia Goff Michael, and Patricia Duncan Parks. Pete is survived by his wife Betty Lee Michael of Parsons and son James D. Michael (Joanne) of Peoria, Arizona. Also surviving are grandsons Erik J. Michael of Columbus, Ohio and David J. Michael (Kristin) of Aubrey, Texas, great grandchildren Sydnee, Conner, and Benjamin Michael, stepdaughter Sandra L. Plum of Morgantown, step-granddaughters Renee Cutright (Shawn) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Adrianne Lambert (Wesley) of Columbus, Ohio, and step-greatgrandchildren Olivia, Connor, and Nyah Cutright of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Pete graduated from West Virginia University’s premedical program and received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania-Philadelphia. He interned for two years in the emergency room at Philadelphia General Hospital as preparation for treating patients in Tucker County, West Virginia. During his forty-three-year practice in Parsons, he delivered two thousand babies and cared for hundreds of patients. He kept himself updated on medical research and practice after he retired. In his leisure time Pete loved to hunt, fish, and camp along river banks.
Visitation will be held at the Hostetler Funeral Home Saturday, February 15, 2020, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A graveside service will be conducted in Parsons City Cemetery Sunday, February 16, 2020, at 2:00 pm where members of Pythagoras Lodge #128 A.F. & A.M. Parsons, will conduct ritualistic services. Rev. James Snyder will officiate and interment will follow.
