Tucker County Girls’ Fall To Frankfort And Win Over Notre Dame

HAMBLETON – The Lady Mt. Lions hosted #2 Class “AA” Frankfort on Tuesday February 11th. Tucker County led after one quarter, but Frankfort pulled away in the fourth to get the win over Tucker County 69-51.

The first quarter was played fairly even as Tucker County held a slight edge 17-16 after one quarter of play. The Lady Falcons won the second quarter as they outscored the Lady Mt. Lions 23-11 to make the halftime score 39-28 Frankfort.

The third was also won by Frankfort 16-14 to put the Frankfort lead to 55-42 after three. The Lady Mt. Lions battled back to get the score within 10 points midway through the fourth, but the visiting Lady Falcons pulled away down the stretch to get the victory over Tucker County 69-51.

Terra Kuhn led the Lady Mt. Lions with 21 points, 9 rebounds and London Hood added 15 points for Tucker County in the loss. Kadie Colebank chipped in with 7 points and 5 rebounds for Tucker County. The Lady Mt. Lions JV team fell in the first game 61-37.

HAMBLETON – The Tucker County Girls’ hosted Notre Dame for a Varsity only contest on Thursday February 13th. The Lady Mt. Lions jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in route to a 63-43 win.

Tucker County got off to a quick start and the defense held Notre Dame to 2 points in the first quarter to give the Lady Mt. Lions the 16-2 advantage after one quarter. Tucker County then outscored the Lady Irish 15-12 in the second quarter to make the halftime score 31-14 Tucker County.

The third quarter was controlled by Tucker County 18-12 to push the Lady Mt. Lions lead up to 51-26 after three quarters of play. Notre Dame edged Tucker County in scoring in the fourth quarter 17-12, but Tucker County got the win by the final score of 63-43.

London Hood led Tucker County in scoring with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and Terra Kuhn added 17 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists. Kadie Colebank had 16 points, 7 rebounds for Tucker County and Gracie Rapp chipped in 10 points, 7 rebounds in the win for the Lady Mt. Lions.

Tucker County(13-7) will return to action tonight Wednesday February 19th at home against Moorefield in the last game of the regular season. The JV game starts at 5:45pm with Varsity action to follow. Tucker County will begin Sectional play next Tuesday at home with their opponent to be determined.
