The City’s contractor, Safeco Environmental, started demolition on the former “Jack the King” building at 323 First Street earlier this week. Second Street from Walnut Street to Heavens Lane will be intermittently closed while the contractor works on this building.
“We are excited to have another dilapidated building removed in our downtown, said City Administrator Jason Myers. “I again want to thank the Mayor and City Council for making demolition a top priority and securing monies from the William Mahan Harman Memorial Fund to make these projects possible.” According to Myers, future use of this lot is unknown at this time. He indicated that City Council has kicked around a few ideas, but assured that they would put it to good use.
