Edwina ‘Joan’ Booth Poling

Edwina ‘Joan’ Booth Poling, age 78 years, a resident of Parsons, WV departed this life Wednesday evening February 5, 2014, at the home of her son, Kenny. She had been in declining health and death was attributed to cancer.

Edwina 'Joan' Booth PolingShe was born Monday, December 9, 1935 at Elkins, WV, a daughter of the late Edwin Judson Booth and Catherine Jane Pase Cyrus Booth. On June 1, 1954 at Parsons, WV, she was married to Kenneth Franklin Poling, Sr., who preceded her in death, February 3, 1997.

Surviving are two sons, Kenneth Franklin Poling, Jr. and wife Lenette of Parsons, Paul Edward Poling and wife Alisa of Hambleton; two brothers, Edwin J. “Peabody” Booth, Jr. and wife Wanda of Parsons, Robert Alan “Bob” Booth and wife Connie of OH; three sisters, Eloise Marie Kosta and husband Tom and Marjorie Ellen Hedrick, all of CA., Margaret Eleanor Chase of WY; six grandchildren, Natalie, Brandi, Daniel, Destry, Misty and Holly; two step grandchildren, Quintessia and Trevor; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are one half brother, Fred Booth; and three half sisters, Lillian Belle Cyrus Perella, Lucille Booth and Winifred Cyrus.

She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1953. She was an employee of the former Tucker County Hospital and she was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, canning, feeding and watching the birds, fishing and reading her Bible.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home parlor on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 1 p.m. The Rev. Philip Dent officiated and interment followed at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangement for Edwina ‘Joan’ Booth Poling.
