The Blackwater Chapter of the DAR presented the 2020 Tucker County High School Good Citizen Award to Jacob Moore at its June monthly meeting. Moore, an exceptional young man, volunteers time at his local church. “I like to serve as a role model for younger kids.”

And what a role model he is. He has maintained over a 3.7 GPA, participated in sports, extra-curricular activities, and is often the smiling face who greets you at the McDonald’s window where he works as much as he can.

Jacob plans to attend Fairmont State University and study physical therapy. “ I want to continue to help people,” Jacob exclaimed. “And I won’t let you ladies down. I’ll maintain being a good citizen throughout my adult life.”

Jacob was awarded a certificate, Good Citizen pin and card, and a $500 scholarship. Pictured giving him the awards are Blackwater Chapter members Cathy Hebb, Chapter Vice Regent; Cindy Kolsun, Chapter Regent; Wanda Booth, Chapter Secretary; and Sue Silk, Chapter Treasurer and Registrar.

Also in attendance at the meeting were prospective members, Sue Knotts, Phyllis Garcia, Mary Jane Smith, Amy Goughnour, Michele Felton, and Kathy DiBacco.
