Ernest Westley Carr, age 86 years, a resident of Parsons, WV departed this life Sunday afternoon, July 12, 2020 at the Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center at Elkins, WV surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Sunday, October 8, 1933 at Hendricks, WV, a son of the late Wayne and Inva Pitzer Carr. On March 21, 1954, he was married to the former Mary Eleanor Nestor, who preceded him in death July 15, 1997.
Surviving are one son, Stephen Westley Carr and wife Janice of Fairmont; three daughters, Debra Sue McCrum of Parsons, Deanna Kay Thompson and husband Robert of Transfer, PA and Kara Denise Streets of Morgantown; one brother, Roger Carr and wife Linda of Parsons; eleven grandchildren; Gavin Waybright (Cindy), Dustin Carr, Alex Carr, Shana Keller Henline (Andrew), Tyler Thompson, Brandon Keller (Katlynn), Chelsea Waugaman Myers (Ryan), Austin Waugaman, Kayla Thompson Melton (Kyle), Tessa Carr, and Corey Thompson; and eight great grandchildren, Aaron Waybright, Jacob Waybright, Gabreal Oliver, Lilly Henline, Lucas Henline, Liam Carr, Alyssia and Madison Carr.
Preceding him in death are eight brothers, Charlie, Elmer, Hansel, Troy, Lindsay, Lorenzie, Ezra and John Carr; and four sisters, Nora Carr, Lydia Hall, Julia White and Emmie Simmons.
He attended the school at Dry Fork. He was a member of the Parsons Volunteer Fire Dept. for several years. He owned and operated his own logging company, retiring in the late 90’s. Mr. Carr stayed busy all the time. He was an active member of the Parsons First Church of the Nazarene. He raised rabbits and especially enjoyed his time with his family and grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Parsons First Church of the Nazarene at Parsons, WV on Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the church on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 11 AM. The Rev. Steve Morrow will officiate. Cremation will follow and inurnment will take place at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV at a later date. As we continue to follow the CDC guidelines and the recent mandate by Gov. Jim Justice, social distancing as well as masks will be required for those in attendance.
