LADY MT. LIONS CAPTURE FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

LADY MT. LIONS CAPTURE FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

PETERSBURG – The Tucker County Girls’ Volleyball team traveled to Petersburg for a JV and Varsity match against the Lady Vikings on Monday September 14th.  In the JV contest Petersburg won match in straight sets (9-25), (10-25).  The Tucker County Varsity team then played a match against Petersburg.  The Lady Vikings defeated the Lady Mt. Lions in straight sets (8-25), (11-25) and (12-25).

 

HAMBLETON – The Lady Mt. Lions hosted a Tri-Match against Pendleton County and South Harrison on Tuesday September 15th.  Tucker County faced off against Pendleton County in the first match of the night.  In the first set the Lady Wildcats jumped out to an early 8-1 lead to force a Tucker County timeout.  Pendleton County then surged ahead 13-4 as the Lady Mt. Lions could not steal back the momentum as they fell in the set 25-9.  The second set started differently as Tucker County took a 3-0 lead to start the set.  The Lady Mt. Lions then built a 9-4 lead to force a Pendleton County timeout.  The Wildcats then fought back to tie the score 11-11 on a quick 4-0 run.  Pendleton County continued to hit the ball well as they ended the set on a 14-3 run to capture the set 25-14 and take the match win 2-0.

South Harrison and Pendleton County then played their best of 3 set match.  The Lady Wildcats proved too much for the Lady Hawks as Pendleton County took the first set by the score of 25-10.  The second set did not go any better for South Harrison as they got behind 8-0 to start the second set and the Lady Wildcats took the set 25-9 and won the match in straight sets 2-0.

Tucker County then took on South Harrison for the last match of the night.  The first set went back and forth as the set was tied 14 midways through the set.  South Harrison surged ahead slightly with a 22-17 lead, but Tucker County fought back to within 1 point at 24-23.  The Lady Mt. Lions could not complete the comeback as the Lady Hawks won the first set by the score of 25-23.  In the second set Tucker County’s only lead came at the start as they led 1-0.  South Harrison then took the lead 2-1 and never gave it back as they finished out the set win a 25-17 win and captured the match win over Tucker County 2-0.

 

MOUNT STORM – Tucker County traveled to Union for a Tri-Match with Union and Moorefield on Thursday September 17th.

The Lady Mt. Lions faced off against Moorefield in the their first match of the night.  The Lady Yellowjackets defeated Tucker County in straight sets 7-25, 12-25.  In the second match Tucker County played against the home standing Union Lady Tigers.  Union would take the first set by the score of 25-17.  The Lady Mt. Lions then fought back in the second set as Tucker County took the set 25-18 to force a third and final set.  The visiting Lady Mt. Lions then rode the momentuem to capture the third set 25-19 to give them the match win.  This was the first win of the season for Tucker County.

 

Tucker County will return to action on Tuesday September 22nd at Tygarts Valley.  The Lady Mt. Lions will then host a single match with Union on Thursday September 24th.  Both contests begin at 6pm.  For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
