To The Editor:
How pleased I was when I opened my Advocate and saw my favorite teacher, Miss Schilansky. She taught in our schoolhouse in Douglas.
She was kind and taught us how to make so many things. In fact, I still have most of them.
It was a treat if you were picked to ring the bell or clean the erasers. We had a merry-go-round; it was a simpler time.
I saw Miss Schilansky in Thomas when I came home for a visit once – I told her who I was and she remembered me. I certainly remembered her. She was so dedicated and gave us so many memories.
