HAMBLETON – The Tucker County High School Volleyball team hosted a Tri-Match with Trinity and Union on Monday October 12th.
In the first match of the night the Lady Mt. Lions faced off against Trinity. Both team went back and forth early on until Tucker County pulled out to a 15-10 lead. Trinity then fought back to tie the set at 18-18. The set then continued to go back and forth and Trinity took the set by the final count of 28-26. In the second set the Lady Mt. Lions jump out to an early 10-3 lead. Tucker County then never looked back as they won the set by the score of 25-18 to tie the match at 1-1. The third set was controlled by Trinity early as they led 7-3 early on. Trinity continued to keep their lead throughout the set and the Lady Warriors pulled out the third set 25-18 to take the match win over Tucker County 2-1.
Trinity then faced Union. Trinity won the first set 25-15, but Union surged back to win the second set 25-17 to force a third set. Trinity then outlasted Union in the third set 25-18 to get the match victory over Union 2-1.
In the third match of the night the Lady Mt. Lions took on Union. Tucker County got out to an early lead 7-2 in the first set. The Lady Tigers then surged back to tie the score 9-9. Union then outscored the Lady Mt. Lions 14-7 the rest of the set to get the first set win 25-16. Union then started the second set with a 10-5 lead. Tucker County tried to fight back, but the Lady Tigers extended their lead to 20-10. Union then finished the set 25-17 to give Union the match win 2-0 over Tucker County.
KINGWOOD – The Lady Mt. Lions Volleyball team traveled to Preston for a JV / Varsity match with the Lady Knights on Wednesday October 14th.
In the JV match Preston won the first set 25-15. Tucker County would win the second set 25-20, but Preston won the third set 25-12 to take the JV match win 2-1.
The Varsity teams then played a best of 5 set match. Preston won the first two sets 25-20 and 25-22. The Lady Mt. Lions fought back to take the third and fourth sets 25-16 and 25-16. This then forced a fifth set to determine the win. In a back and forth battle to 15 the Lady Knights picked up the set win 16-14 to take the match win over Tucker County 3-2.
Tucker County will travel to South Harrison tonight October 21st and then they will host Petersburg on Thursday October 22nd. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
