Loretta Faye “Tag” Stiles, age 73 years, a former resident of Parsons, WV, residing in Simpsonville, S.C., passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at her home and under the care of Interim Hospice, following a brave battle with cancer.
Tag was born March 17, 1947 in St. George, WV, the daughter of the late James Okey Stiles and Laura Melvina Spessert. She is the youngest of five siblings, James Dales Stiles, Allen Zane Stiles, JoAnn Kerekes and Pearl Watkins, all of whom have died with cancer. She has many cousins, nieces, nephews, multiple family members and friends she holds very dearly. Three very dear youngsters are William Carter Estep, Grace Ryan Estep and Shaylea Jo Wolfe. A Special friend of a lifetime was Lynn Marie Smith. She will always cherish her time with family and friends and loves you all.
She attended the one room schoolhouse on Limestone Road, Parsons High School and was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1965. Tags career centered on Nursing, volunteering for Hospice and as a community developer for the Foundation of Mon-General Hospital. She established the Tucker County Health Fair, sponsored by Mon General Hospital, that was held at Cortland Acres its first year, subsequently moved to Canaan Valley Resort due to popularity and growth of medical vendors. This fair brought multiple free resources to Tucker County residents, other WV communities and included Maryland. Tag was also responsible for a free mammogram program for uninsured and underinsured women. Tag was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church at Parsons, WV.
Receiving many nursing career awards are the Governor’s Service Award, Health Care Hero’s Distinguished Service Hero Award, Nursing Excellence Award for Clinical Practice, the North Central Community Action of WV Spirit Award, Celebrating Excellence Recognition Award by WV. Center for Nursing, nominated to “The Heritage Society” by the Foundation of Mon-General and received from Kingwood, the WV Rotary Foundation Paul Harris Fellow Award.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Saturday, February 6, 2021 from 11 AM to 1 PM. A Celebration of Life took place on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Reverend J. Michael Lantz officiated. Cremation to follow and a Private burial will take place at the Limestone Cemetery at St. George.
