A breakfast for the Challenged Athletes of West Virginia Wounded Warriors visiting our area was sponsored by Stevens’ Realty on Friday, July 26. The breakfast was held at St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Parsons and the vets and their families stayed at Canaan Valley Resort. Following the breakfast everyone went to visit Patriots4 in St. George and then on to a day on the river.
Chris Bowers of Fredericksburg, Va. and his companion dog Gunner, enjoyed breakfast and a stroll outside. Bowers was wounded in Iraq in 2008 resulting in the loss of his leg. Bowers found Gunner in a box in Bethesda, Md. and trained him himself. He is a certified Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Companion Dog. Gunner goes everywhere with Chris and he is enjoying West Virginia very much.
