Matthew Steven “Matt” Jennings, 37, a resident of Hambleton, passed from this life Friday, July 26, 2013. He had been in his usual health and death was sudden and unexpected.
Born Friday, April 2, 1976 in Elkins, Matt was the son of Steven Jennings (Sharon) of Kerens and Patricia Ann Hamner Harman (Jim) of Yulee, Fla. On June 4, 2005 in St. George, he was married to the former Angela Denise Pifer who survives.
Others left to cherish Matt’s memory are his two daughters, Cassandra (Cassie) and Madalyn (Maddie) Jennings, his brother Paul Jennings and wife, Jessica of Parsons, his sister Missy Jones and husband, David of Xenia, Ohio, his four step-sisters, Miranda Reckart of St. George, Billie Poling and husband, Joey of Nestorville, Misty Bolyard and husband Scott of Hambleton, and Dreama Hinton of Harman, grandparents, Barbara Shepard and husband, Jerry of Pierce and Sheila Hamner of Thomas, six nieces and eight nephews.
Preceding Matt in death was his grandfather, Russell Hamner and grandparents Carl and Ina Jennings and one niece, Brook Jennings.
Matt was a graduate of Tucker County High School with the class of 1994. He had worked as a welder for Mineral Fabrication until becoming disabled in 2012. He was an avid sportsman enjoying hunting and shooting guns. He also enjoyed and became known for refinishing rifles and shotguns. He was a Methodist by faith having attended the Davis United Methodist Church and the First United Methodist Church of Parsons.
Visitation was held at the Summerfield Funeral Home in Parsons on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, from 3 until 5 p.m., the funeral hour. The Reverend Adam Snyder officiated and Matt’s request for cremation was honored. The Summerfield Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements for Matthew Steven “Matt” Jennings.
