PARSONS – On Monday May 5th the Mt. Lions hosted Trinity. Zac Haddox struck out the first 9 batters in the game to get the victory over the Warriors 6-4. Haddox went 5 innings in the contest and struck out 14 batters total. Tucker County scored all 6 runs in the 4th inning led by Landon Dillard with a double and Haddox added an RBI single.
PARSONS – The Mt. Lions hosted Southern, MD on Tuesday May 6th and took the loss 18-2. Kevin McDermott got the loss on the mound. Tucker County scored 2 runs in the 1st inning, but was unable to get any offense going after that. The rest of the game the Mt. Lions only managed 3 base runners. The Rams took the game 18-2. Landon Dillard and Justin Fike scored the 2 runs in the 1st inning for Tucker County.
PARSONS – Tucker County celebrated Senior Night against PVC and Sectional Rival Tygarts Valley on Wednesday May 7th. The Mt. Lions hung tough until they fell apart in the 7th inning as the Bulldogs got the victory 19-11.
Tucker County started off strong in the first inning, getting 3 singles in a row by Kevin McDermott, Zac Haddox, and Alan Molone. Those 3 singles were then followed by a huge RBI double by Billy Plum. Plum finished 2-4 with 2 doubles. McDermott led the way at the plate going 4-5 with 2 singles, a double, and a home run. McDermott came up shy again for the second time this season from hitting for the cycle. The game was tied 10-10 going into the final inning, but 5 errors in that last inning resulted in 9 runs for Tygarts Valley to give them the 19-11 win. The 7 seniors that were recognized before the game were: Dusty Conrad, Zach Everly, Kevin McDermott, Allen Molone, Harry Pennington, Jake Pifer, and Billy Plum.
PARSONS – On Thursday May 8th the Mt. Lions hosted Pendleton County and ran into some great pitching and hitting. Pendleton County’s pitcher, Luke Yokum threw a no-hitter against Tucker County and they lost the game by the final score of 18-0.
PAW PAW – The Mt. Lions took to the road on Friday and traveled to Paw Paw High School for a double header. In the first game Tucker County only managed 4 hits against All-State Pitcher River Newton and took the loss 4-0. The second game started out good for the Mt. Lions as Kevin McDermott, Zac Haddox and Alan Molone got 3 singles in a row in the 3rd inning to produce 2 runs. Errors however would be the difference as Tucker County created 8 errors in the game that led to 9 runs for Paw Paw and the visiting Mt. Lions lost the contest 9-2.
Tucker County(4-12) was scheduled to enter sectional play against Union Monday May 12th in Parsons. The winner of that game is scheduled to play at Tygarts Valley on Tuesday May 13th. The Loser of Tuesday’s game will host Monday’s loser Today May 14th. The winner of today’s game will play the winner of Tuesday’s game on Thursday May 15th. It is a 2 loss elimination format. A Game will be played on Friday if necessary. All games will start at 5pm. All PVC was announced this past week and the following Tucker County Baseball players made the list: 1st Team-Kevin McDermott, 2nd Team-Alan Molone, Jake Pifer, Zac Haddox and Justin Fike.
