On April 24, more than a dozen volunteers from Friends of Blackwater, the West Virginia Rivers Coalition, Blackwater Bikes Association, and the WV Division of Natural Resources held a successful and fun Earth Day Roadside Clean-upon Camp 70 Road near the Town of Davis.
The trash collection site had work tables spread out every ten yards, to follow safe COVID protocols. Despite rainy weather, hardy scavengers picked up hundreds of discarded bottles, cans, and other waste items. Sunrise Sanitation donated their services to take the trash to the landfill, and Sirianni’s Café donated pizzas for the volunteers. Angie Shockley of Q&A Associates arranged for some of their clients to act as volunteers.
The participants agreed that this Earth Day Clean-up was a great event — for the participants, and of course, for our beautiful planet.
