Tucker County High School ProStart will be back to prepare made-to-order pasta selections and delectable desserts faor this year’s “Pasta Palooza” from 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 30, at Cortland Acres. The event raises money for the Cortland Foundation and ProStart.
The Cortland Foundation’s inaugural “Pasta Palooza” left people begging for more, and that’s what they will get during the second annual event.

From 5-8 p.m. on Friday, May 30, Executive Chef and Tucker County High School ProStart program instructor Brian Covell and his students will create unique pasta dishes for members of the community and Cortland Acres residents. Last year’s initial undertaking drew rave reviews from the nearly 100 attendees, so the crowd is expected to be even bigger this year.

Walk-ins are welcome, but reservations are encouraged by e-mailing foundation@cortlandacres.org or by calling 304-463-4181. Donations are appreciated.

“We’re thrilled to partner with ProStart on another ‘Pasta Palooza,’ ” said Lois Nelson, executive director of the Cortland Foundation. “We look forward to another evening of fabulous food and fellowship.”

Diners have the opportunity to pick from a selection of ingredients for their own custom meal.

Pastas include radiatore, whole wheat penne, rainbow rotini and tortellini.

Sauces include marinara, Alfredo, tomato basil, pesto and olive oil.

Ingredients to add include parmesan cheese, sweet peas, mushrooms, fresh spinach, crushed garlic, roasted red peppers, diced tomatoes, red onions, artichoke hearts, fresh sweet basil, Italian parsley, fresh sage, meatballs, grilled chicken and sweet Italian sausage.

“This is not only a great meal and a fund-raiser for two worthy organizations, it’s an opportunity for students to show off their skills during a major event,” Nelson noted. “We encourage people from all across the region to join us.”

For more information about “Pasta Palooza” or the Cortland Foundation in general, contact Nelson at 304-463-4181 or email foundation@cortlandacres.org.
