Davis Town Council To Send Letters To Residents

The Davis City Council had its regular meeting on Wednesday June 9, 2021. Present for the meeting was Mayor Doug Martin, Andy Snyder, Al Tomson, and John Felton. No votes or decisions could be made during this meeting due to just four council members being present. Absent from the meeting was Jeanette Ware, Cindy Robeson, and Terry Helmick.

The town will be sending out letters to residents who have property that needs to be mowed. The Parks and Recreation Board are now in the process of ordering and purchasing playground equipment to be installed at The Davis Gym. With this will also come new basketball hoops and a new court outside. They do not have all the funds for this yet. If you would like to make a donation you can contact the city hall.

The town held the election on Tuesday June 8. Bobbi Quattro, Amy Goughnour, Betty Luzier, Andy Snyder, and Judy Cronauer helpes with the election. There are 469 eligible voters in Davis. Of those 469, only 67 total voted (19 of that 67 did early voting). The canvas of the ballots will be June 14 at 5 p.m. The certifying of the ballots will be done June 16 at 5 p.m. The unofficial results:

The council heard from Civil & Environmental Consultants Inc. on their development project taking place. The design work has been done for the Master Gardeners Assist Tucker County High School

Davis Riverwalk Housing Development but some adjustments still need to be made before finalizing. This Development has the addition of six new houses in the plan. Mayor Martin will help them with locating where lines and pipes are underground at that location.

The next meeting will be held Wednesday June 23, 2021 at which time Mayor Martin will swear in the new mayor, who will take office beginning July 1, 2021. The new mayor will then swear in the new council members.
