The Tucker County Senior Centers reopened on MONDAY, JUNE 21, 2021. We were so excited to see everyone after such a long time away. As was posted in the paper the last 2 weeks, we have to follow the State guidelines. We aren’t real thrilled about these but we are willing to do what has to be done to stay open.
The senior exercise group will resume on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Wellness 24. It will be on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays starting at 10:30 a.m. and lasting approximately 20 minutes. The exercises are very low impact with some minor stretching. It’s a great opportunity to get out of the house, socialize, and get a little exercise. If you need transportation, please call the Senior Center at 304-478-2423.
We are extremely happy about having our seniors back at our Centers. We are slowly beginning to get some of our activities going again. The SHIP lady will start back on Thursday, July 15, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. After that she will be here on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at the same times. We want to welcome our new SHIP lady, Carolyn Elmore. You may make an appointment to talk to her by calling 304-636-4747. Don’t forget that Open Enrollment begins in October. You will need to call really early for an appointment to speak to Carolyn because the slots fill up quickly. If you have a question, she is in the Elkins office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
For the months of June and July we will be doing Bingo on Tuesdays and Thursdays after lunch beginning on June 22nd. You can play for approximately one hour for only a quarter per card. We hope you will come out and socialize and join the fun.
We are planning a special activity on Wednesday, July 7th. You must be present to find out what we are up to!
As many of you know, the Summer Olympics will be held in Tokyo, Japan July 23rd through August 8th. As we did with the Winter Olympics, we will be holding our own version of Olympics. On Thursday, July 29th we will have our own version of games geared to our seniors. We will be using things such as pool noodles, soda straws, paper bags, aluminum foil etc. As you can see there will fun activities that take very little effort to participate. Please join us for some fun and excitement.
We are also working on a variety of other smaller activities so keep your eyes peeled for announcements in the newspaper or attend the Senior Centers for lunch when announcements are made.
