HAMBLETON – The Tucker County Boys’ Basketball team opened the season with a home contest with Elkins on Friday December 10th.  The Mt. Lions fought hard in the contest, but the Tigers pulled away in the third quarter to capture the road victory over Tucker County by the final score of 64-49.

The first quarter went back and forth as visiting Elkins led the Mt. Lions after one quarter 15-13.  In the second quarter the game was like the first quarter as the Tigers outscored Tucker County 13-15 to make the halftime score 30-26.

The third quarter belonged to Elkins in a big way as the Tigers held the Mt. Lions to 5 points in the quarter and Elkins scored 22 to give the visiting team a commanding 52-31 lead after three quarters of play.  Tucker County tried to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter, but the Mt. Lions could only outpaced Elkins 18-12 to make the final score 64-49 Elkins.

Haden Wamsley led Tucker County in scoring with 16 points off the bench and Ashton Lycliter added 13 points, 16 rebounds for the Mt. Lions.  Wamsley also added 9 rebounds for Tucker County in the loss.  The Tucker County JV team got the win in the first game of the night 60-53.

Tucker County (0-1) will return to action on Friday December 17th at home against Pendleton County.  The JV game will start at 5:45pm with the varsity game to follow.  For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
