Dorothy Pauline Losh, 96, of Thomas died Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Mountain Living Community in Belington.

She was born February 24, 1925, in Thomas, a daughter of late Eva Thersa (Yeager) Dillon and Samuel Edward Dillon.

Dorothy was first and foremost a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She worked as a payroll clerk for Davis Coal & Coke, Housekeeping manager at Cortland Acres Nursing Home, and a traveling military wife/stay at home mom to Harold “Jiggs” Shoemaker. She was a member of the Thomas First Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her sons, Harold Shoemaker and wife Clara of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Samuel Shoemaker and wife Diana of Thomas, WV; grandchildren, Nathan Shoemaker, Karen Bates, Megan Sypolt and Samuel “Dillon” Shoemaker; great- grandchildren Noah and Hunter Bates, Cole Shoemaker, and Alyssa, Adelyn, & Aubrey Sypolt and many other extended family from her second marriage to Howard Losh.

In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her son, Timothy Shoemaker; husbands, Harold (Jiggs) Shoemaker and Howard Losh; brother, Robert “Bob/Sonny” Dillon; and sister Yvonne (Bonnie) Shaffer.

Dorothy believed Sundays were a time for church and family. She loved to hop in the car with Howard and travel all over with no timeline and destination in mind. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she loved to host her annual family Christmas party. She loved to walk to the special spot (greenie spot) for picnics. Shopping was a must, especially at the Pottery in Williamsburg and she never missed a sporting event of her grandchildren.

Friends joined at Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home, Davis, WV, on Saturday January 29, 2022 from noon to 3 p.m. A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. with Pastor David Shaffer officiating. Graveside services were private. The Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family at this time.

In Lieu of flowers family ask you make donation to one of the following: Mountain Living Community-1004 South Crim Avenue Belington, WV 26250 or Thomas First Presbyterian Church- P.O. Box 38 Thomas, WV 26292.
