Carolyn Rae Davis Irons, age 75 years, a resident of Parsons, WV, departed this life Sunday February 6, 2022, at Talbott Personal Care Home at Belington, WV.
She was born April 29, 1946, at Bretz, WV, a daughter of the late Noble Davis and Blanche Knotts Davis. On April 10, 1971, at Porterwood, WV, she was married to Alvin Willard Irons, who preceded her in death April 28, 2005.
Surviving are step-daughter, Jackie Pritt and husband Dirk of Philippi: step-granddaughter, Skyler Lamb of Parsons, whom she adored and raised as her own; one brother, Donald Davis and wife Vickie of Gerrardstown, WV; three sisters, Hilda Kochenderfer and husband James of Hambleton, Norma Jean Summerfield of Hambleton, Blanche “Bunny” Simmons and husband Thomas of Montrose; and numerous adoring nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are two sisters, Mary Katherine Kochenderfer and Leona Virginia George.
She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1964. She attended Cosmetology School in Cumberland, MD. She worked at various beauty shops, Hinchcliff and Nella’s. She served thirty-five plus years in law enforcement in Tucker County, serving as Sheriff of Tucker County for a term and a half and Tucker Co. Magistrate for two and a half terms. She was a very caring and generous person. Carol enjoyed making crafts, baking special occasion cakes and doing things for friends and family. She was a member of the Riverview Chapel Church at Porterwood, where her family was instrumental in the development of the church.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home on Friday, February 11, 2022, at 10 a.m. The Reverend James Snyder officiated and interment followed at the Parsons Family Cemetery at Shavers Fork.
