The Parsons Senior Center had their Father’s Day celebration on
Thursday, June 16, 2022. They began the program with a “West
Virginia Poem” read by Betty Sturm and the choir sang “West
Virginia Hills.”
Next Linda Bonner read the “history of Father’s Day and Arlene
Ramsey read “Fathers.” The choir followed this by singing
“Silver Haired Daddy.” Patty Wilfong then read “There Are
Little Eyes Upon You.” This was followed by Meg Buddingh
singing “Daddy’s Hands” and “Country Roads” while she
played the guitar and Jim Buddingh accompanied her on the
Dobro.
The next order of business was June birthdays. Betty Knotts,
Ruth Connell, and Deloris Kelly were our birthday girls. While
they had their picture taken with the cake, everyone sang
“Happy Birthday” to them.
Next we recognized our fathers. Jim Buddingh has the most
children with 9 and Ken Knotts was the eldest father present at
the young age of 92. They were both given special prizes while
all the men present received a small token of our appreciation.
The celebration closed with everyone singing “God Bless
America” before Ken Knotts asked the blessing on our delicious
meal.
