District #14 yearly convention was hosted by Blackwater, Dorcas and Huttonsville Rebekah Lodges on June 21, 2014 at the IOOF Home in Elkins.
Following registration of members, lunch was served to 22 sisters and four brothers. During this event, reports from various committees were given, some of which were necrology, publicity, courtesy and recommendations.
The officers for the district include Karen Tenney, President, Thelma Turek, Vice President, Barbara Zimmerman, Secretary and Sandra Godwin, Treasurer. There were four Rebekah Assembly Officers attending, Virginia Messer, President, Charlotte Ross, Warden, Mary Bess, Secretary and Charlotte Zimmerman, Treasurer. There were also six Past Presdents of the Assembly attending, Barbara Zimmerman, Charlotte Zimmerman, Mary Bess, Alma Whitehair, Wanda Ashcraft and Sue Ann Rowan.
The district raised enough money to send a high school senior to New York City to the United Nations, and, also send donations to various Odd Fellow and Rebekah projects – such as Low Vision, Emergency and Disaster Relief and United Nations Pilgrimage, Wounded Warriors and Veterans.
The next convention will be hosted by Pleasant Grove Rebekah Lodge in Montrose, WV on May 16, 2015.
The meeting closed by quoting the Rebekah Creed, which includes the three watch words of the order which are Friendship, Love and Truth. Friendship is like a golden chain that ties the hearts of all Rebekahs (worldwide) together, love is one of our most precious gifts – the more you give, the more you receive – and Truth – it is the very foundation of our society.
