PARSONS – The #4 ranked Mt. Lions Football team hosted Moorefield on Friday October 7th. Tucker County trailed early, but the Mt. Lions offense got going to pick up the win and remain undefeated by the final score of 45-18.
Moorefield would strike first on the opening drive of the game. The Yellowjackets scored on a 1 yard touchdown run. The PAT kick was blocked to make the score 6-0 Moorefield with 8:09 left in the first quarter. Tucker County would answer on their second play of their opening drive on a 64 yard touchdown pass from Ethan Rosenau to Jared Reall. The 2 point conversion was good on a Rosenau pass to Maddox Anderson to give the Mt. Lions the 8-6 lead with 7:12 left in the first. The next drive for Moorefield would start at their own 5. After three negative run plays for Moorefield they were forced to punt from their own 1. The snap was then dropped out of the back of the end zone to give Tucker County a safety with 5:00 left in the first to up the Mt. Lions lead to 10-6.
In the second quarter Tucker County would score again on a 21 yard touchdown pass from Rosenau to Blaike Adams. The PAT failed to make the score 16-6 Mt. Lions with 6:41 left in the first half. Moorefield then answered with a 12 yard touchdown run with 3:46 left in the second. The 2 point conversion was no good to cut the Tucker County lead to 16-12. The Mt. Lions would then march down the field before the halftime break as Reall scored on a 20 yard touchdown run. The PAT was good on a Rosenau pass to Ashton Lycliter to make the score 24-12 Tucker County with 1:34 left in the second quarter. The first half ended with the score 24-12 Mt. Lions.
Tucker County received the kick to start the third quarter. The Mt. Lions then put together a 64 yard drive that was capped off with a Will McCallister 10 yard touchdown run with 6:23 left in the third. The 2 point conversion was no good to put the Tucker County lead to 30-12. Moorefield’s next possession started at their own 39. The Yellowjackets marched the ball down the field and scored on a 19 yard touchdown run. The 2 point conversion failed to make the score 30-18 Mt. Lions with 2:38 left in the third.
The Mt. Lions got on the scoreboard again early in the fourth quarter on a Rosenau touchdown pass to Adams with 8:38 left in the game. The PAT was good with a Lycliter pass reception to increase the Tucker County lead to 38-18. The Mt. Lions then added a late touchdown with a Reall 2 yard touchdown run with 1:21 left in the fourth. The PAT kick by Lycliter was good to make the final score 45-18.
Tucker County’s Ethan Rosenau ended the game 14 0f 21 passing for 224 yards. Jared Reall carried the ball 19 timed for 141 yards rushing for the Mt. Lions. Blaike Adams led Tucker County in receiving with 7 receptions for 79 yards. Reall added 64 yards receiving and Trenton Wilfong chipped in with 50 yards receiving for Tucker County. Reall led the Mt. Lions on defense with 6 tackles and Dom Mullenax added 5 tackles for Tucker County. The Mt. Lions defense had 3 sacks on the night against Moorefield as Haden Smith, Owen Knotts and Marky Phillips had 1 sack each. Tucker County outgained Moorefield in total yards 386-265.
