Harold Lloyd Phelps departed this life on July 13, 2014. He was born at a very young age out west (West Virginia). He was 8th of 9 siblings who grew to adulthood, and the last survivor of his family’s generation.
He graduated Davis High school at age 17 and after service in the Navy, he attended Shepherd College, graduated George Washington University Columbia College, George Washington School of Pharmacy. He was licensed as a pharmacist in Virginia and Washington, D.C. until he retired. For many years, “Doc” Phelps owned and operated Middleburg Pharmacy in Middleburg, VA.
His parents were Herbert S. Phelps and Viola Jane Simmons. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ella Frances Shackelford Phelps. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Moyer Phelps, his six children, Joseph Phelps (Jeannie), Brenda Kophamer, Michael Phelps (Lolita), Susan Curtin (Steve), Cynthia Phelps and Mary Cowhig (Daniel); three step-children, Ann Livoti, Rick Trenary (Melany), and Lea Longerbeam (Scott); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
