The recent bout of bad weather has handed out a lot of destruction around the area. The latest victim has been the new City of Parsons sign at the end of the Blackfork Bridge.
A huge tree was downed in the inclement weather and smashed its way through the middle of the sign. The actual body of the sign is made up of a very dense type of foam board. Jason Myers, Parsons City Administrator/Treasurer, stated, “When I got the call that the sign had been destroyed, it just ruined my whole day.”
Tim Harris, of Appalachian Signs, LLC, in Montrose, is already at work making a replacement for the sign. The cost of the new sign will be $2,640 and that will be covered by insurance.
Myers later stated, “We are hoping to move the sign closer to US219 for better visibility.”
