Worles Waives Preliminary Hearing

Parsons, W. Va. – Katie Lynn Worles was before Magistrate Riley H. Barb on Thursday, July 31 in regards to a child neglect charge.

Worles waived her right to a preliminary hearing and the case will be moved to the Tucker County Circuit Court. She is still under a $10,000 surety bond and must begin drug testing through the Tucker County Community Corrections office. Her attorney is waiting for more discovery from the State, which is forthcoming.

The original criminal complaint against Worles and her subsequent arrest was in May of this year. Trooper J.E. Kopec of the Parsons Detachment of the West Virginia State Police responded to the location when a caller allegedly stated that a child was wandering around in the street alone.

Kopec allegedly discovered Worles’ three year old son, alone and unsupervised, on Central Ave in Parsons only clothed in a diaper.

When he escorted the child home, Kopec found Worles was allegedly sleeping and did not know the child was outside alone.

Worles was also charged with this same type of offense in May of 2013 in Randolph County.
