MOOREFIELD, W.Va. – Ciara Smith, a resident of Moorefield, WV, and Hardy County native, has joined the staff at Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College as the new student services coordinator.

Smith holds a bachelor of science in child development and family studies (CDFS) from West Virginia University, which she obtained in May of 2022. She also minored in human services.

Before joining Eastern, she worked as a substitute teacher for Hardy County Schools. Smith also has previous experience at WVU Medicine CDC and Hardy County Child Care. “I recently began substituting within the public school system,” said Smith, “which led me to realize I enjoyed working with the older students.”

Smith has seven siblings and eight nieces and nephews. In her free time, Smith likes to spend her time outdoors. “I enjoy anything about being outside. In the Summertime, I like to hike, go camping and eat a ton of grilled food,” said Smith, “I also enjoy being around family and friends and living life to the fullest.”

“The thing I enjoy most about working at Eastern is everyone works as a team. You go in with so many emotions about starting a new position,” said Smith, “being at Eastern allows you to feel comfortable and welcome in the position that you are starting.”
