DUNMORE – The Tucker County Baseball team traveled to Pocahontas County on Saturday April 15th for a single game against the Warriors. The Mt. Lions got started early with 2 runs in the 1st inning to make it 2-0 after 1 inning. Tucker County would then add 2 runs in the 3rd inning and 7 runs in the 4th inning to give the Mt. Lions a commanding 11-0 lead after 4 innings. Tucker County would add 2 more runs in the 5th inning and the game ended due to mercy rule. The Mt. Lions got the road win by the final score of 13-0.
Justin Robeson went the distance on the mound for Tucker County as he allowed just 1 hit and struck out 9 batters. The Mt. Lions racked up 13 hits and were led by Ethan Rosenau with 3 hits(1 double). Mason Kisamore(double), Dom Mullenax(double) and Nate Ricottilli had 2 hits. Sam Marks(triple), Xander Lambert, Reid Kisamore and Justin Robeson added 1 hit each for Tucker County in the win.
HICO – The Mt. Lions Baseball team traveled to Midland Trial for Game 2 of the day on Saturday April 15th. The 1st inning started out good for Tucker County as they scored 1 run in the 1st inning, but Midland Trail answered back with 1 run in the bottom of the 1st to make the score 1-1 after 1 inning. Trail then got 2 runs in the 2nd inning, 4 runs in the 3rd inning and 2 runs in the 4th inning to take a 9-1 lead after 4 innings. Tucker County could not get the bats going the rest of the game and Midland Trail got the win at home over the Mt. Lions 9-1.
Tucker County managed just 3 hits in the contest and was led by Mason Kisamore with a double. Xander Lambert and Ethan Rosenau added 1 hit each for Tucker County in the loss. Ethan Rosenau got the start on the mound for the Mt. Lions and went 2 innings. Reece Poling went to the mound in relief for Tucker County.
PHILIPPI – The Tucker County Baseball team traveled to Philip Barbour on Tuesday April 18th for a single game with the Colts. The Mt. Lions struggled early as Philip Barbour scored 7 runs in the 1st inning to take a 7-0 lead after 1. The Colts would add 1 run in the 2nd inning, 4 runs in the 3rd inning and 1 run in the 4th inning. Tucker County would get on the scoreboard in the 3rd inning with 1 run off a steal of home by Blaike Adams. The game would end early with the final score of 13-1 Philip Barbour.
Mason Kisamore collected the only hit for the Mt. Lions on a fly ball to left field. Reece Poling started the game for Tucker County on the mound. Same Marks and Maddox Anderson entered the game in relief for the Mt. Lions.
PARSONS – The Mt. Lions Baseball team ended the week with a home contest against Petersburg on Wednesday April 19th. The bats were hot early for both teams as Petersburg scored 3 runs in the 1st inning, but Tucker County fought back with 2 runs in the 1st to make the score 3-2 Vikings after 1 inning. The Mt. Lions would take the lead in the 3rd inning as they scored 3 runs to make the score 5-3 Tucker County after 3. Petersburg then answered with 4 runs in the 4th inning to put the Vikings back to the lead 7-5. Petersburg then added 1 run in the 5th inning and 2 runs in the 6th inning to put the score to 10-5 after 6 innings. Tucker County then rallied in the bottom of the 7th inning with 5 runs to tie the game at 10-10 and send it into extra innings. The top of the 8th inning showed the Vikings scoring 5 runs to make the score 15-10 midway through the 8th inning. The Mt. Lions scored 1 run in the 8th, but could not complete another comeback as Tucker County fell to Petersburg in a exciting game 15-11.
Tucker County had 10 hits in the contest and was led by Ethan Rosenau and Maddox Anderson with 3 hits each. Mason Kisamore added 2 hits(double) for the Mt. Lions, while Justin Robeson and Reid Kisamore added 1 hit each. Mason Kisamore got the start on the mound for Tucker County and went 4 innings, while collecting 7 strike outs. Robeson, Rosenau and Nate Ricottilli went to the mound in relief for the Mt. Lions.
Tucker County will return to action on Wednesday April 26th at Pendleton County for a 5 pm start.
