I just found out something this past weekend that has me mad as all get out. I found out that a disabled Veteran has lost his medical privileges just because he was raised from being 10% disabled to 20% disabled because he makes too much money. But if he is upped to 30% he gets the benefits back, what a joke. His benefits were raised by $147.00 a month and he lost all his medical privileges. He just received a bill in the mail for over $500 just for his medicine.
I am sorry but this is just not right. He should be on 100% disability but for some reason he doesn’t qualify. He was admitted into the Army with feet as flat as a board and he received multiple injuries while in the service. He has a hip replacement, both knees are bone on bone but they say he doesn’t need knee replacement, he has headaches all the time because a flash bang went off in his face and he caught his wedding ring on some bridging equipment and almost stripped the skin off his finger.
He was in a jeep accident and hurt his back and neck, has a replacement vertebra in his neck and was only on 10% disability. He just had to take a hearing test and failed the test. This is when his disability was raised to 20% but he was not informed of this. Now they give him a $147.00 raise and take away all his medical privileges.
Momma Said, “And people wonder why the suicide rate and homelessness of Veterans is on the rise.” There is no question why with acts like this taking place. Veterans needing medication and help with mental health problems and they can’t get it. All of you out there need to stand up and say “Enough is enough.” This is not the way our Veterans should be treated. Take a stand and let your state Senators, Congressmen, Legislators and anyone else in government that these people need the help they deserve. I am so disappointed with our country treating these soldiers with such disrespect. They came when called and now where is our country when they need help? The reason I am so mad is because this case hits close to home, this Veteran happens to be my brother.
