Rowlesburg hosts the Northern West Virginia Train Show, August 30, 31, & September 1, 2014 at the Depot and Ambulance Building. You can ride all day for just $1.00.

Railroaders from Cumberland to Grafton come every year to enjoy the exhibits and grilled chicken dinners in the Park. The 1927 Centenary B&O Model Bridge Exhibit is open all day on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, along with the famous WWII Exhibit. Both are permanently housed at the Szilagyi Center (High School), thanks to the RRC. Loads of fun for the kids, moms, dads and the grandparents!

In addition to all of the model trains, the Szilagyi Center will be offering many different events, including the Annual Alumni Dance, featuring “The Classics.” The dance will be held in the auditorium of the Szilagyi Center. The dance is sponsored by the Rowlesburg Revitalization Committee and is open to the public. For information regarding tickets call Katie Wolfe at 304-454-9232.

Sunday is Kids Day! Naturally, kids and families are welcome all three days, but this year we will offer opportunities on Sunday for kids to run the model trains; there will be free rides in the caboose and treats for the kids at the Model Train Show! Bicycle clubs and kayaking clubs also are invited to an outdoor mountain and river festival in Rowlesburg starting at 8 a.m. in the Park. Sunday is for kids and families and old high school friends. The Szilagyi Center Auditorium is open all day for Alumni Day.

That mouth-watering aroma floating in the air over the Rowlesburg Park and river is the most famous roast beef in West Virginia! This delicious treat is served from noon until dark. The roast beef is pit-cooked all night right in the Park on a fire of local hardwoods.

Another big feature on Monday is the 50/50 Draw and Ultimate Drawing. There also will be live music in the Park on Monday and Monday is the traditional antique and classic car show, and things end with a bang at 8:30 p.m. –the BIG fireworks show against the backdrop of Cannon Hill. This is one of the biggest fireworks shows in Northern West Virginia.
