David Michael Wilfong, age 74 years, a resident of Parsons, WV, departed this life Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Davis Medical Center at Elkins, WV.  Death was unexpected.

He was born Tuesday, January 18, 1949, at Elkins, WV, a son of the late Blennice Blair “Fluke” Wilfong and Lula Jane Strawderman Wilfong.  On October 16, 1999, at Virginia, he was married to the former Lisa Mauzy, who survives.

Also surviving are one stepson, W. Brad Stevens of Parsons; one brother, Stephen “Craig” Wilfong and wife Sheila of Parsons; one sister, Kathie Dellinger of Mt. Jackson, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are three brothers, Forrest Blair “Sonny” Wilfong, Scotty L. Wilfong and Keith “Fluke” Wilfong; and one sister, Mary Lou O’Dell.

He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1968.  He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War.   He had worked at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home for several years and retired from the Labors Union Local #984 of Clarksburg, WV, during 2019.  He enjoyed hunting and was an avid sports fan, especially watching WVU Football and Basketball.  David loved his dogs, Maddy and Lucy, and he had a kind heart and a wonderful sense of humor.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m.  Final rites were conducted at the funeral home on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at 2 p.m.  The Rev. Gregory Smith officiated and interment followed at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV, where the WV Army Honor Guard, the Tygart Valley Post #3647 Veterans of Foreign War and the Tucker County Veterans Association conducted full military honors.  The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements for David Michael Wilfong.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at; www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com.
