Rose Lee Shaffer Scalf, age 85 years, a resident of Atwater, Ohio, departed this life early Tuesday morning, January 9, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Traditions Health & Hospice.
She was born Sunday, December 18, 1938, on the Shavers Fork Road at Kerens, WV a daughter of the late Ray Lee and Iva Byrd Shaffer. On October 26, 1956, she was married to David M. Scalf, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, David Allen Scalf and wife Jodonna, and Douglas Lee Scalf and wife Jackie; and one daughter, Bev Dean and husband Bart, all of Atwater, OH; thirteen grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Preceding her in death are two brothers, Carl Lee Shaffer, and Leo Shaffer; and two sisters, Velma Jean Barton, and Lois Shaffer.
Rose was a graduate of Tallmadge High School. She had worked at the Greyhound Bus Terminal but worked mostly in retail. She was a member of the Irons Chapel Church at Kerens and enjoyed helping her husband.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Thursday, January 11, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Final Rites were conducted at the funeral home, on Thursday at 12 Noon. The Reverend Justin Jones officiated and interment followed at the Parsons Family Cemetery at Shavers Fork, Parsons, WV.
